ideé fixe
My paintings are questions, often ironical, for which I seek answers. The human form, evolving from portraits to little textured figures, comes to life on my paper.
I am inspired by commonplace events which are ubiquitous, but colour my life. I observe fixations, communication breakdowns, prejudices, superficial spirituality, personal masks, attitudes to natural calamities, festivals that shatter the ecological balance and express my voyeurism in my paintings.
My silence is eloquent. I want the viewer to stop, reflect, and think again. This is my Idée Fixe. I need all of us to introspect & find the purpose of being human. Think about where I am heading to? How do I shed preconceived ideologies? Should I hang on to hoary conventions? Should I change direction for the betterment of humanity?
My art is not just for art’s sake. It has a meaning and goal, small steps to make the world a better place.
